The creation of Sunti
First there is a trip to Thailand
Sunti was born during my first trip to Thailand. I was 22 years old, I had just received my first salary as a stylist. We left with a friend in the middle of February, happier than ever. On our itinerary, we had chosen to go to Khao Yai National Park. This is where the last wild tigers of Thailand live in freedom. Fascinated by these big cats, I remember that during our entire visit to the park, my heart was pounding at the idea of seeing one of them, through the lush jungle of the park…
Drawing in my studio
A few years later, in my studio in Bordeaux, I dug out my travel notes and sketches. I immersed myself in my journey and began painting tigers and banana leaves, just like that, guided by my hand and my memories.
Creation of the digital file
I scanned each painting and then composed my design on the computer. After that, I worked on the colors, inspired by the memory of Thailand's vibrant palettes.
Printing the fabric
I then sent the digital file of the pattern to my textile printer to do color tests on organic cotton. Concerned about quality, I did numerous tests to get a color rendering that fully satisfied me.
Once the colors were well-calibrated with Printcubator, I started production of the fabric. Upon receipt, I carefully checked its quality, then worked on the placement of the kimono pattern.
Sewing the kimono
Finally, as a last step, I took my little bike and dropped off my printed fabric with the kimono pattern at the Les Confectionneuses workshop in Eysines, very close to Bordeaux.
